Hi Guys ... Just wasting time @ work and ended up at the evil lair of GW looking for some pictures for my Tau game cards, and came across a new army suggestion - the Necrons. The storyline, images and variety of models is superb! Soooo, who's got them! Come on ... someone must have Necrons, their way cool and look like a match to any Therian!
Here's some links ...

Nice miniatures....could use the rules for Therians, and save a lot of playtesting time.
Dont buy from GW, check out e-bay instead.
If you are looking at alternative races to include in AT-43, Tau would be the best, but Necrons could work.
Mantics Warpath has 2 races atm. Dwarves and Orx. But they have more in the pipeline, including an army of zombies, and a Corporation.
There is also an 8th race which is still in design stages, i recently entered a competition to speculate on the 8th race.
My idea....Big crocodile-men with sonic guns and a Klingon mindset (or Empire).

Yeah, there's plenty of Necrons on eBay ... some really top notch one's too, but (same-old-same-old!) top dollar!!!
My Tau are coming along nicely. Here's a snapshot of one card I've created now I have my Adobe template to play about with ...
... which can also be used by anyone else needing cards made up. The image is a bit pants, but the printouts superb at top quality on photographic paper!
I personally like the style of Card I, as it allows bigger model images, but Card II is the norm for AT-43? What do u guys think?
As too your race idea, I think it's been done ages ago ... Kleggs! ... ring any bells? Here's a linko ... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kleggs ... Walts

As I'm stuck at my lappy all day today, I'm going to have a glance at my Tau PDF codex to begin the conversion of 40k to AT-43. That way I can work on a bit of blurb and stats, as well as faction/company formations. Everything I create will take stats from other factions, but they'll just have Tau names. That way I won't need to scratch my brains for the cost of Striders, leaders, fighters, weapons, grenades special units, AFVs, etc.
These stats will be open for discussion to all players to give an opinion in case of any biased units.
Hopefully, I'll get the basic's done, but there's no major rush as there's still a few months before the Frostbite campaign is finished ... Walts

As a rough guide i would say .
Type 1 infantry fire warriors and drones.
Type 2 inf....pathfinders
Type 3 inf.....stealthsuits
Type 1 Striders crisis battlesuits ??? vehicles ......Pirhana
Type 2 vehicles Devilfish transport / Hammerhead tank
Type 3 Strider star wars thingy.
Do you have any firewarriors with Rail Rifles ? (heavy weapons)
And any Firewarriors with small hand held markerlight designators ?

Hey Z ... Currently, I have 16 Warriors with Pulse Carbines(PCs) & 30 with Pulse Rifles(PRs), a handful of Pathfinders with PC's and three with Railguns(RGs) .. so not too many "heavy weapons" just now. No models with designators ... I was hoping to convert a few models as Hero's, Special Weapons, Engineers, etc, with some handouts from other club members, but no-ones came forward on my scadge for 40k bits.
I've realised that I'll just need to bite the bullet and buy some more, monies or no monies ... so watch this space!
Here's a pic of my AT-TE mini-model ....
... which shows it's not too big. I'll bring it along on Sunday to compare against some AT-43 models ...

The AT-TE is not as big as i thought !
Might get away with calling it a type 2....thus leaving the Hammerhead as a Type 3 , (packing all the firepower. )
The Tau look good. Did you get the terrain with them ?
Going back to the designators....i think the codex allowed the designator to be fitted to a PC .
So the squad leader would have a pc and designator and the rest of the squad could be armed with either weapon. (usually rifles) The PR were so hard hitting that there were no heavy weapons in the squads, but the designator could tag enemy tanks for the devilfish transporters missiles.
The rail rifles were added in the second codex and were a part of pathfinder units...i think ?

Hey Hugh ... Yeah, the AT-TE size surprised me too! But, Type II "Striders" seems about right. Still not keen on placing a Hammerhead on the games table, they look kinda huge for AT-43. The piranha's seem the way to go as a Type III, maybe with some extra bitz added on ... still looking on eBay!
I have picked up some Kroots for "hand-2-hand" specialists, and would like to get some Vespid's too, if I can get them cheap enough! My Tau will have a low Combat score (2 or 3) so a unit of Kroots (5 or 6) will balance that out.
The terrains mine ... made with my own little hands! I actually like making terrian ... it's big & bulky, so painting skills aren't really needed. Most likely use them in the Medusa V campaign, just to air them a bit Any terrain pieces you fancy using in the campaign? ... I'm happy to hear any suggestions for battles. I've got all the tile & paper maps for creating each battlemap, so any ideas would be good. I plan to expand the gametable a little ... say 5 by 3's, 4 by 4's and 5 by 4's ... for a bit more movement? Any thoughts?
Before I forget, I'd just packed away my models and notice one does have a designator, so I will include the "tagging" ability, like the UNA troops. Looking forward to my hols next week to get everything in order ... Tau, Campaign ... bathroom, external windows ... lifes a rollercoaster mate!!! ... Walts

i dont think the Hammerhead is much bigger than the monkey Type 3 (King Mammoth ???) Have built and painted two hammerhead, so have a fair idea.
I have a couple of ideas for scenarios, but will hold off til the Tau thread. Like the terrain...nice job ! Power Pylons of some kind ?
Is the designator/scanner guy also packing a Pulse Carbine ?
Kroot ? i wouldn't bother...but its your call.

To be honest, I've never seen a HH on the gametable, but plenty of pictures online make it out to be bigger than ur flying ship? Maybe u could bring one in this weekend to compare against my Tau, AT-TE, Crisis & various AT-43 models at the club?
Yeah, the towers could be comminication/electrical pylons ... or like the Frostbite "Crystals" thingys!
The model I have has a Pulse Rifle & Designator. The owner just mixed & matched them when she painted them for her kids, without worrying too much with the details. I've a couple of models without helmets, who could be leaders as well. Just need some model conversions for medics & engineers ... when I get some bitz!
As I got the Kroots with the Tau batch, I fancy using them. Their well painted ...
... so will look pretty fierce looking on the battlefield ... watch out, there's some Kroots about!!! ... Walts
PS. The piggy banks been well raided! I don't even want too look at the PayPal bills coming in ... who's idea was it to start a new army!!!

@zellak: Yeah, I know. U seem more hyped than me!! I'm chasing my tail with ten different things going on @ the house & work and finding it hard to get any jobs done anywhere to focus on the Tau as an AT-43 army, so I've decided that I'll start the thread next sunday for definite. I don't want to create a thread with little know-how on AT-43 army do's & don'ts, so I'm still reading odd forums for ideas.
I've managed to win a Tau 40k codex and would like to read it for some inspiration, and along with the bits & bobs I've received from you, we'll get an army sorted by the time the Frostbite Campaign is finished. Most likely I'll miss this Sunday to give more time to getting the thread off to a good start ... Walts
PS: Can I have one of these for Xmas please ... Forgeworld 40k Warhound Titan ... what's with the crazzzzyyyy pricing!!!

Thought it would give my brain something to do this week....with the Drow D&D finished ...and my week 4 AT-43 game been played.

You realize a titan is a giant Mech in 28mm scale ???
Its about 30" tall !!!! And its a Warhound which is a fast/light one.
I have a few epic scale ones , and they are about 50mm high. (in 6mm scale)

Or do we normally just keep things as they are with the massive damage done to the Red Blok faction?
PS. Copied this post to the Phase II - Wk4 thread ... Walts
