i have been wandering around the web and came across the Shadowrun 4th edition reviews.
Didn't you buy that ? (think i remember you mentioning it ???)
Would the magic system in that not be better than the hero system rules ?
Just ignore all the elf/orc/troll stuff and play as a party of magicians ?

Yeah! I did buy it and you're probably right that it is a better system for the game but I don't understand the system very well  . But I'll try it if you don't mind a bit of of a faff (is that how you spell it?). It would mean rolling up new characters.  You and Jamie will keep me right I'm sure  .

From what i have read it works like the the Vampire the masquerade system, which is a lot easier than the old Shadowrun 2nd edition.
And we have the characters so just need to convert them to the new system, a bit easier than thinking up the characters from scratch.

Would be useful for all kinds of RPGs ( and Heroclix ? ).

Hi Guys ... Having read through the SR4 quick start rules above, I was really impressed with the way they where written, the use of examples to show how the game plays and the various tests needed to perform task where all easy to follow, and along with the concept art, ideas and storyline, the overall game looks brilliant! ... Def a  for me!
If I had one grip, it's the concept of "dice pools" for everything ... roll a d6 for each point of attribute, with a 5 or 6 being a success. In one example, a Troll has to roll 16 d6 to see if he blocks a door, but it's not something that would stop me playing the SR4 game, or using it's rules in any RPG ... Walts

Yeah, Che has let me borrow the rules.....really simple , roll the number of dice (stat + skill) needing 5+ to succeed.
