Phase 2 came to
an end in a blaze of lightning. Any activity on Maranos was brought to a stop
due to a spectacularly large electrical storm which covered most of the planet.
Its effects were strongest around the spaceport. Manoeuvre and combat became
impossible, communication was blocked and all forces were rendered helpless. As
the storm subsided some movement occurred but only a minimal amount. There was
no fighting.
The Cogs took
advantage of the confusion caused by the storm and gained control of Sector G
in the south. The ONI forces they faced vacated the sector because of
misunderstandings and comms problems. The Cogs also did well in the north east
taking Sector D from the Red Blok.
The Red Blok
still held Sectors C and B and began preparations for a counter attack. They
were also poised for a further assault on Maranos Spaceport.
The Karmans and
the UNA, who held Sectors A and L respectively, were also preparing their
counter strikes.
The ONI still
controlled the strategically important spaceport and most of the south west
sectors.
Intelligence
reports, though incomplete and sketchy after the storm, indicated that the
Therians were also preparing to strike after a period of inactivity.
