Humanity is at war with the technologically advanced Therians, a presumably robotic species bent on subjugating and transforming all planets for their ultimate purpose: the crafting of a "better", more organized universe under their rule, which they refer to as their "therian heaven".

General Tukachevski was still a troubled man. Contact with troops on the surface of Maranos had been restored and he read the report coming in from the Cog front. The battle had resumed but no one on the ground was aware that there had been any interruption. The revolution was not doing quite as well against the Cogs. Things had started out well with both sides grabbing the nearest objectives. Shots were exchanged without major loss on either side. The Dotch Yaga had prevented any Cog movement on the left flank. In fact it mortared an enemy unit, but only succeeded in grounding the Cogs rather than inflicting casualties. The right flank was livelier with each side losing a unit. A Red Blok Krasnye RPG group was overwhelmed by a Cog stealth unit. The Cogs could not be seen until they were too close. In return a Red Blok Hetman 2 took out a Cog infantry unit. Behind cover the Cog leaders had been calling in reinforcements in the form of Type 1 striders which began to fire on the Hetman, inflicting damage which the Red Blok mechanics had trouble repairing. A group of Cogs then appeared on top of a building, firing rockets at an infantry unit, almost wiping it out. Unable to see some of their enemy and in danger being swamped the Red Blok commanders, Odin and Manon, gave the order to withdraw to HQ.
Tukachevski realised that, by sending the wrong company which lacked an adequate Dragonov presence, he had almost had a disaster on his hands. He hoped that his superiors were in a forgiving mood.
He had also received some more bad news about the Cog situation. An orbital monitoring station had reported that they had intercepted communications indicating that the Therians were pulling back. Would this free more Cog companies to fight the Red Blok or would they advance against the ONI? Only time would tell.
